Friendly Rivalry at Trivial Pursuit

Friendly rivalry is the tone of the Helensville Historical Society’s annual Trivial Pursuits night. Will the Kaukapakapa girls be able to take out top prize again this year? Such is the popularity of the event that some teams return year after year, but there is always room for new competitors.
There are numbers of prizes, and a variety of raffles. The presentation is most professional, with Roy Brooks on the computer posting regular updates on the teams’ point scores. Quizmaster this year will be John Smith, who promises a good range of questions. People bring their own drinks and nibbles, and hot drinks and biscuits will be served at the interval.
Trivial Pursuit night is one of the Society’s main fundraisers and to encourage good participation the entry fee has been kept at the very reasonable rate of $10 per person. Good value for a night’s entertainment.
Come along to the Helensville War Memorial, Hall on Friday 12 August at 7 pm to try your luck. Registrations for teams (8 – 10 people) or individuals to be placed in teams should be made to Lynn Millar at the Museum by Wednesday 10 August. Phone 09 420 7881 weekday mornings, or leave a message on the answer phone, or e-mail to helensvillemuseum@xtra.co.nz
