Greenways Plans

Greenways plans are being developed for the Helensville, Muriwai and Taupaki areas and for Kaukapakapa, Wainui, Dairy Flat and Coatesville areas to identify routes that can become walkway, cycleway and bridleway projects in the future.
Auckland’s greenways plans are developed by local boards and their communities to improve walking, cycling, bridle paths and ecological connections across the region.
Rodney Local Board wants to gather local knowledge at this stage of the planning:
  • ! to hear about routes, away from busy roads, that people would like to use to get around.
  • ! this information will be used to map out a greenways network of walkways, cycleways and bridle paths.
  • Drop-in workshop dates:
  • ! Helensville residents for the Helensville, Muriwai and Taupaki greenways plan - a drop-in workshop will take place on Saturday 9 June 2018 between 9.30am-11.30am in the meeting room at the Helensville War Memorial Hall, 2 Porter Crescent, Helensville.
  • ! Kaukapakapa residents for the Kaukapakapa, Wainui, Dairy Flat and Coatesville greenways plan a drop-in workshop will take place on Saturday 9 June 2018 between 1pm-3pm at Kaukapakapa Hall, 947 Kaipara Coast Highway, Kaukapakapa
Council staff will be on hand to take people through the information for each area, answer questions and help record ideas and feedback. This information will be used to put together a draft document, which will go out for public feedback followed by local board adopting the final plan.
The greenways plans will also assist developing areas as they help the local community, Rodney Local Board, Auckland Council, Auckland Transport and developers prioritise future active recreation connections and inform new projects.
In addition to the drafting these two greenways plans; the Rodney Local Board has completed three other greenways plans for Riverhead, Kumeû, Huapai and Waimauku, Pûhoi to Pakiri and Wellsford – this link has more information http://temp.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/EN/AboutCouncil/representativesbodies/LocalBoards/rodneylocalboard/Pages/rodneyplans.aspx
