Second Photographic Competition, Sunday June 3rd to Sunday June 10th
Kaukapakapa Library administrators and organisers of the Kaukapakapa Market have announced the dates for the Second Kaukapakapa Photographic Competition, which will take place during the period Sunday 3 June –Sunday 10 June.
The competition is for any photographs taken in the Kaukapakapa area during the week:- social, personal, sporting, pets, in fact anything which could be included in a collection of images which can be seen under the heading “A Week in The Life of Kaukapakapa ”. A maximum of three digital images per entrant must be received by 6pm Tuesday June 12th at firstname.lastname@example.org . One picture from each entry will be printed and displayed in the Kaukapakapa Hall during the market on the morning of Sunday 17th June so that a “People’s Choice” award can be selected.
“ Kaukapakapa” is defined as an area from Makarau to Helensville, Kaukapakapa to Waitoki.
It must be emphasized that any photographs entered for “A Week in the Life of Kaukapakapa” must be taken during the period 3 June – 10 June, this information can be checked through the digital signature of the image.
“Last year’s entries were quite remarkable” said Colin Lunt, “But there were a number of comments about the time limited to one day. As a result we have extended it to a longer period to encourage even more people to enter”.
Prizes will be presented to the best Junior Photograph for Under 12 photographers, the best Over 12 Photograph and a People’s Choice Photograph. Winning photographers will each receive an A3 canvas print of their winning image and a $50.00 Westfield Voucher
Awards will be presented in the Hall at Mid-day on Sunday 17 June during the Kaukapakapa Market. The People’s Choice winner will be chosen from the images displayed during the morning of the Market.
The decision of the judges; Kaukapakapa Library administrator Megan Paterson, Kaukapakapa Market organizer Sarah Legg and photographer Colin Lunt will be final.

“A Week in the Life of Kaukapakapa and its Surroundings”
photographic competition Rules
There will be 3 categories, Under 12, Over 12 and People’s Choice. Judges will consist of photographer Colin Lunt, Kaukapakapa Library administrator Megan Paterson and Kaukapakapa Market organizer Sarah Legg. The decision of the judges is final and will be announced along with the People’s Choice at mid-day, Sunday June 17th at Kaukapakapa Hall.
Photographs must be obviously taken in the Kaukapakapa area (defined as an area from Makarau to Helensville, Kaukapakapa to Waitoki) during the period Sunday June 3rd and Sunday June 10th 2018 and is open to any Auckland Council resident. Any images displaying illegal or pornographic activity will not be accepted and returned immediately to the sender.
By entering the competition it will be inferred that photographs are the personal property of the photographer who also holds copyright of the image. Please also obtain the permission of the person being photographed.
Only digital images will be accepted, with a maximum of three images from each entry.
All sizes and standards of images are acceptable and a maximum of 3 images must be emailed to email@example.com by 6pm on Tuesday June 12th along with the title of the photograph, photographer’s name, telephone number, address and age if 12 and under.
The organisers have the right to publish any of the photographs during the 12 months following the competition to promote Kaukapakapa, the Kaukapakapa Library and Kaukapakapa Market. All images published by the organisers will be credited to the photographer and any income received donated to the Kaukapakapa Library. If necessary a ‘Model Release Form’ will also be required before publishing.
Photographers will also have the right to publish and/or sell their own photographs after Sunday June 17th 2018, so long as reference is made as “Photograph entered in A Week in the Life of Kaukapakapa Competition 2018”.
