Art Kaipara AGM

By Helen Martin
Art Kaipara aims to provide a vibrant environment for the development and growth of artists, as well as for the social and cultural wellbeing of the general community throughout the Kaipara region. The organisation is also committed to catering for visitors to the region with this valuable cultural asset.
Presenting her report at the Art Kaipara AGM in May, Art Centre manager Sally Lush noted the high levels of support the Centre has received since its relocation to beautiful new premises in Commercial Rd last October. Sally thanked Auckland Council and the Rodney Local Board, particularly Phelan Pirrie and Brenda Steele, for acting on co-ordinator Pauline Denton’s vision for this facility. Pauline, who has overcome the health challenges she faced at the beginning of the year, the Art Kaipara Board, numerous established, community and differently abled artists and an army of volunteers have all contributed generously to the Centre’s success.
Since opening the Centre has attracted many new members and returning members to the umbrella organisation, Art Kaipara. The workshops, exhibitions and artist talks have been well attended and the team look forward to another year of creativity and participation.
Up next: From June 4 – 25 the Centre is holding a Festival of Photography featuring work submitted by people from the community.
