Auckland Youth Orchestra (AYO), designed to bridge the gap between school and adult professional orchestras, is the premier regional youth orchestra in New Zealand and performs several concerts throughout the year. Once again, Helensville was very privileged to be a chosen venue for their 2019 Concert Series with a wonderful concert that took place in Helensville War Memorial Hall on June 29. The audience was treated to a fantastic evening of music that included a Richard Strauss Horn Concerto, with Henry Close as horn soloist, Mouquet’s La Flute de Pan with Jacob Webster as flute soloist and Prokofiev’s Symphony No.7.
