Bay-city tractor shovel comes home

At 5pm on Friday March 23 the 1929 McCormick Deering Bay-city Face Shovel purchased by the Helensville Museum (story HCN, March 2018), was transported through the main street of Helensville and parked up at its new home in the museum grounds. Bringing the big earth-mover here from Dargaville was a community effort, with Dave Swale from Swale Earthmovers acting as co-ordinator and Bruce Levien’s Yakka Heavy Haulage providing the transporter at low cost. Seeing the old girl returned to her former home was an exciting moment. Donations to pay for the shovel and a shed to house her in can be made through https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/giving-1929-mccormick-deering-bay-city-shovel
