Attendance at the Christmas Day community dinner was double that of the previous year. The change of venue to the Helensville Primary School Hall facilities was a huge improvement in many ways.
The many volunteers contributed to an enjoyable community and family celebration. Those who came along enjoyed plentiful food, and Christmas music, with children receiving gifts. Huge thanks to the school for their generous provision, free of charge. Also to Helensville District Health Trust for the use of their multiple ovens at Te Whare Oranga o Parakai.
Special thanks to Lions Club of Helensville, BuildLink West (Oikoumene) and South Kaipara Rotary for sponsorship funding. Also to the many individuals who donated cash or food, or children’s gifts. Thanks to Countdown and Parakai 4 Square for donating goods. Lastly, the support of Helensville Recycling Centre was invaluable. Left over food went to local families and Island Child Trust at Pt England.
