Is a beautiful way of acknowledging that people, previously referred to as ‘disabled’, have a unique range of abilities.
One such is local artist Thomas Hogan. Thomas is a prolific creative for whom painting has a real therapeutic value, taking him into a beautifully meditative state.
Thomas has a real intuitive artistic ability according to Pauline Denton, who has the privilege of working alongside him as coordinator of the Helensville Arts & Activities Programme run by L’Arche Mount Tabor.
Pauline has been employed in her role since 2008 and loves to see people reaching their artistic potential.
Thomas is having his first solo exhibition in the Helensville Art Centre from August 6th-27th. This will be a ‘cash & Carry’ exhibition, so be in early to put in your claim on your favourite works. These works make an amazing feature in any household.
The programme, which includes drama, skittles, music and sing-a-long, choir, hand bells, card making, painting, educational table games and a weekly dance, is open to all and costs are very reasonable.
