SUMMARY:Meet writer and artist Zee Southcombe
DESCRIPTION: \nHer books are written for children but with their wild sense of imagination\, rich vocabulary and emotional resonance they are loved by readers of all ages. her paintings are surrealist and focus on the emotive self. \nA true creative Z.R. usually has a few creative projects on the go\, but no matter what project she is currently working on\, is usually accompanied by a cup of tea. \nThe Caretaker of Imagination and Lucy’s Story: The End of the World are books 1 & 2 in a trilogy of fantasy chapter books. They explore imaginative worlds\, crazy characters and absurd events (author’s note: they were really fun to write!) \nOlder readers (10+) enjoy them independently\, but these stories are brilliant as a read-aloud for younger readers (7+). \nWhat Stars Are Made Of is a wordless picture book – this means that there are no words in the book\, and the story is ‘told’ through the illustrations. \nIt was written & illustrated by Z.R. Southcombe\, and has been popular with schools\, libraries – and creative folk. \nThis story is available as a traditional print book\, as well as a fold out poster (which would work great along the top of a bedroom wall). \nCome along and meet Z.R. and have a chat about her books and art. Z.R. will be reading excerpts from her books throughout the morning. \nEnquiries to Sarah 0274 831542 or email sarah1@maxnet.co.nz \nKaukapakapa is a pleasant 45 minute (approx) drive from Auckland City and if you're calling in we can give you information on other things to see and do while you're in the area. \n
