SUMMARY:Arts n the Ville
DESCRIPTION:In celebrating its fourth fabulous year\, the line-up for the 2018 Labour Weekend ARTS IN THE VILLE shows the festival is going from strength to strength.\nMore than 40 participants will be displaying their skills and finished work in a wide range of sites throughout the town. As well as a focus around the War Memorial Hall there will be open studios and other venues. Thanks to the generosity of owner Wade Holdsworth\, there will be a pop-upexhibition of emerging artists in the former Art Stop café on Commercial Rd and an UpCycle Gallery at the former Art Centre building on Karaka Street.\nA special fun event\, directed by Myra LLoyd from Marmalade Hats\, is a scheduled 30-minute show which will take place at the War Memorial Hall on Labour Day\, Monday October 22 at 11am.THE HAT WALK will invite members of the public to join our local models to be part of an exhibition and celebration of Myra’s marvellous hats.\nIt’s great to see some of Helensville’s new businesses actively involved this year\, with Husk Macadamia Store and Eatery hosting Janet McLeod’s work and ZUBU featuring “interactive tee-shirts. Earth\, Fire and Indigo is also energetically supporting us with their own creations and features.\nThe weekend before ARTS IN THE VILLE\, Mitre 10 is once again holding its ART IN THE GARDEN display\, featuring many of our artists’ works.\nOver the weekend a treasure hunt\, in local retail and businesses\, will be held. This collaboration between Art Kaipara and ARTS IN THE VILLE will be co-curated by sculptor Jeff Thomson.\nWe have a website being launched in September. More on this in the next issue of HCN.\nFor further information contact Kura Geere- Watson\, 02102395949. \n
