DESCRIPTION:The Helensville A&P Association is excited to offer a visit to Gibbs Farm as a fundraiser for the 2024 Helensville Show. \nFor full information and tickets go to \nhttps://www.eventfinda.co.nz/.../gibbs.../auckland/makarau \nGibbs Farm rests on 400 hectares of re-formed farmland on the Kaipara Harbour. The privately owned park is home to an internationally renowned collection of large-scale sculptures by some of the world’s leading artists\, commissioned and curated by Alan Gibbs over the past 25 years. \nOn your visit you will be able to roam the farmland\, to take in the views of the harbour and gain perspective of the sculptures from a distance and right up close. You can self-guide with the comprehensive guide provided and look out for the exotic animals! \nPack a picnic and come and take in the sculptures\, animals and the stunning landscape they respond to and transform. \nA reasonable level of fitness is required and a visit generally takes 2-3 hours. In that time you can expect to walk 6-7km\, over rolling farmland and a paved roadway\, with time to enjoy your picnic and see every wonderful thing. With our changeable weather\, don't forget a coat\, hat\, sunblock if hot etc\, so you are comfortable on the day. The grass will probably be wet in the morning so boots or sensible shoes are advised. \nTicket numbers are limited and bookings are essential. SUMMARY:Turning of the Tide Fundraising Event
DESCRIPTION:Fundraising event to raise money and awareness for the wellbeing of our children and youth. The main event is a 17km walk/run or 5km gentle walk along West Auckland's iconic Muriwai Beach. This is a family-friendly event for all fitness levels. For the serious runner\, this event is a great option for your Sunday Long-Run. There will also be a 1.5km whānau trail and treasure hunt for children and families to enjoy. DESCRIPTION:If you are thinking of establishing hives on your property or would just like to know some more about these amazing little creatures then this is an ideal workshop for you to attend. \nThis event will give a great overview not only of the techniques employed to nurture bees but also costs and time associated with the activity as well as what you will achieve.  You will also be offered tips on how to make your garden more “bee friendly”. \nOur guest presenter is Kim Kneijber who has worked with Bees for over 16 Years\, is a member of the Rodney Bee Keeping Club and has a long time association with APINZ. \nKim will cover many facets associated with this fascinating subject including: \n\nChallenges facing the bee population\nHive maintenance & positioning\nEquipment required\nPros & cons of bee keeping\nRules & compliance issues\nSafety considerations\n\nThere will also be a working hive on site plus the centre has now established a “Bee friendly” plant section. You will also be able to explore our 1km Sculpture Garden as well as the 2.5km extended Nature Trail. \nBooking is definitely advised as this event is very popular and participant numbers are limited \nWe also have our cute little coffee shop on site plus of course the Plant Centre for you to browse through (including our Bee friendly plant section). \nOur knowledgeable and friendly staff will also be on hand to help with any garden related questions. \n*The gardens and nature trail are unfortunately not suitable for wheelchairs or walking frames.

DESCRIPTION:AUTUMN BOOK FAIR\n27th – 28th May 2023\nHelensville A&P Showgrounds\n“The Biggest & Best Book Fair in the West!”\n\nAs theWar Memorial Hall is still under repair the Lions Club of Helensville will once again hold their upcoming Autumn Book Fair at the Helensville A&P Association Showgrounds on the weekend of the27th and 28th of May\, opening at 9.00am on Saturday until 4.00pm and again on Sunday 10.00am until 3.00pm. \nThis is a community event and entry is free\, we do not allow traders in before you\, our community. \nOur last Book Fair held in November raised $12\,527 from the sale of books\, for which many thanks. Should this Book Fair be as successful as the last one the Lions may decide to make the A&P Showgrounds their permanent home. All the money raised went towards assisting individuals and organizations in the community that required helping. \nAll books are priced to sell\, with nothing over $2. There is a large selection of children’s books at 50c\, plus there are also many jigsaw puzzles\, board games\, DVDs\, CDs\, and quality magazines available. \nNon-Fiction will be split into twenty separate categories\, including one section dedicated to New Zealand subjects\, which is still the largest section. Plus\, a large General Non-Fiction section which you can spend hours browsing through. \nFiction is arranged alphabetically by authors\, with six special interest groups\, the largest of which is the Fantasy/Science Fiction section. DESCRIPTION:Mount Shop Mudfest Is back!\nOver 150 + trucks have been confirmed for the 3rd annual Mudfest event. \nEntries open for any sort of vehicle/buggy/truck etc who isn't afraid of a bit of mud or lose of traction\, however\, we'd recommend 4x4 vehicles for the Course and Obstacles. Mudfestis based on the same format that's been used in the States for many years and continues to draw large numbers of spectators and entrants to each event with many vehicle owners modifying their vehicles just for this type of off-road meeting. \nIt is suitable for any 4wd vehicle from serious off-roaders to the family SUV. \nDon't have a vehicle but still want to get involved? We'll have a bike balance beam\, mudslide and other activities for kids both young and old! \nVehicles will be let loose in our 6-acre paddock so line up and let the fun begin! It is not a competition\, it is a fun\, relaxed day out. Entrants can pick and choose which activities they want to participate in on the day. Have lunch when you want and go and have a play when you’re ready. \nThe idea is not to get stuck but there is a very fine line and everyone is going to cross it no matter what their horsepower is and this is where the challenge is. \nDon't miss out!
