SUMMARY:Helensville Lions Christmas Book Fair
DESCRIPTION: 26th – 27th November 2022\nHelensville A&P Showgrounds\n“The Biggest & Best Book Fair in the West!”\nDespite the closure of the War Memorial Hall for maintenance the Lions Club of Helensville will still be able to hold their Christmas Book Fair thanks to the Helensville A&P Association\, who have given us the use of their facilities for the weekend of the 26th and 27th of November\, opening at 9.00am on Saturday until 4.00pm and again on Sunday 10.00am until 3.00pm. Unlike other organisations’ book fairs there is no entry fee and we do not allow traders and collectors in before you\, our community. \nOur last Book Fair held in May raised $11\,500\, for which many thanks. All the money raised went towards assisting individuals and organisations in the community that required helping in these difficult times. \nBooks are priced to sell\, with nothing over $2. There is a large selection of children’s books at 50c\, plus there are also many jigsaw puzzles\, board games\, DVDs\, CDs and quality magazines available. \nNon-Fiction will be split into twenty separate categories\, including one section dedicated to New Zealand subjects\, which this year is the largest we’ve ever had.  Plus\, a large General Non-Fiction section to spend hours browsing through. \nFiction is arranged alphabetically by authors\, with six special interest groups\, the largest of which is the Fantasy/Science Fiction section. There are also many Children and YA books. \nSmall donations of books can be left at Burmester Realty\, Helensville\, or for larger lots\, call Chris on 09 420 8527\, or any other member of Helensville Lions. \nPlease note that the last date we are accepting books for this Book Fair is Friday 18th November. \n  \nEFTPOS Available

SUMMARY:First Aid Course
DESCRIPTION:If you happened across a medical emergency would you know what to do? \nIf asked that question most of us would probably\, at the very least\, be unsure of our competency in such an event. \nWhether in the home\, garden\, driving the car or at work there is a continual possibility of accidents happening or someone becoming unwell. The speed of response can significantly improve outcomes for the patient particularly if the first responder has some sound basic knowledge of what to do. \nIf you would like to be able to answer a confident yes to this question Kaipara Coast will be running an all-day First Aid Course in February (note it’s a Wednesday) where you will learn: \n \n\nActions to take at the scene of a medical emergency\nFirst aid priorities\nFirst aid techniques\nPerformance of CPR\nOperation of an Auto Defibrillator\n\nAt the successful completion of the course you will receive a course certificate which is valid for 2 years. \nTea\, coffee and a light lunch will be supplied by Kaipara Coast. \nIf you would like to either achieve this training for the first time or maybe refresh the knowledge you already possess please book your place as soon as possible as numbers are extremely limited. Please see below for cost and booking contact info.
