SUMMARY:Glass Artist at the Kaukapakapa Library
DESCRIPTION:Meet Kari Lindsay-Beale\, a glass and glass jewellery artist\, whose work is an expression of her love of nature\, colour and harmony. First introduced to glass in 2008\, Kari now creates award-winning pieces as “KARILEA - glass with soul”\, and uses mainly torch worked and fused glass.  Each work is a representation of balance; light and dark\, transparent and opaque\, strong and delicate\, masculine and feminine.  Kari describes the process as an art form which can be tremendously rewarding\, requiring both a willingness to experiment and an understanding of alchemy. Come along and be inspired by a true artisan. Contact Megan Paterson\, 021 959017\, threehorses@xtra.co.nz

SUMMARY:Haunted Night
DESCRIPTION:The Helensville Museum is holding another haunted house night on 28th October 2017 at 8.30pm just after dark – you can arrive up to 10pm to start the tour. This event last year was a huge success if the screams were anything to go by. This year the team have put together another scary night for people over 13 years old. There is an age restriction on this event as the little scenes are really scary. Last year there were a number of visitors who did not make it all the way round – CAN YOU??\nThe event is held at night and all the lights will off to help with the atmosphere. Bring a torch to light your way around the Museum. There will be a safe house – the Schoolhouse and a small group of about 5-6 people will be led around the other buildings. This will enhance the scare factor of the experience. Each tour will take about ½ hour to complete. There will be a theme again this year but you will have to come to find out what. There is a great group of actors who will try to scare you silly. The organiser is Jen McCann who has got together the same team as last year.\nThere will be tea/coffee for a gold coin donation while you wait or after your tour. A raffle will also be running with the draw being at the end of the evening. As there may be a queue to go through you will be given a number as you arrive so that you can have a good look around the Schoolhouse and not lose your place.\nWe look forward to seeing you all there for this great fundraiser for the Helensville Museum. The volunteers at the Museum are always looking for different ways to raise funds and appreciate the support that the community gives to this great place. The cost of this great event is $10 per person and $5 per student (bring student ID for discount). EFTPOS AVAILABLE

SUMMARY:Wellness and Leadership
DESCRIPTION:This seminar brings together two key areas of interest and concern for people in the community sector. Wellness has increasingly become a significant challenge for people who experience the pressures of unsustainable demands and challenges in this sector. For years we focused on how to deal with stress but the growing awareness now is the importance of understanding and knowing how to develop and sustain wellness in our lives and in the way we work\, and how critical it is that we model this in our leadership with others.\nHilary has been leading wellness workshops for eight years now and continues to develop and draw on tools\, frameworks and her experience in supporting wellness and leadership.\nPresented by Hilary Star-Foged - LEAD NFP Management
