SUMMARY:Birds & Bees Guided Garden Walks
DESCRIPTION:Everyone loves to see native birds and bees foraging in their garden\, but did you know that many popular garden plants offer little or no nutrition to attract them.  Over the years David Bayly has created a bird and bee friendly environment withing the Sculpture Gardens which has resulted in huge increases of the presence of native birds as well as bees.  We see multiple Kereru & other native birds every day\, and we always reflect back to before we planted our gardens\, when we would be lucky if we saw one Keruru a year. Now because of the mix of plants we have planted\, we now have all year food sources for them.  If you would like to know more\, this event is an ideal opportunity to gain an understanding of how you could improve your gardens ability to attract them (as well as offer an additional food source).  During this 2 hour stroll through our beautiful gardens\, owner David Bayly\, will be highlighting the many trees and plants which are most attractive to birds and bees\, as well as where best to plant them. *  The gardens were established in 1994 by the Bayly family and are now a 4 star NZ Gardens Trust nominee.  There are also games areas and many ideal locations to sit and enjoy a picnic as well as our cute little coffee shop in which to relax once you have completed the walk.  Our friendly team will also be able to assist with any garden related enquiries  *Please note that the trail is not suitable for wheel chairs or walking frames.

SUMMARY:Labour Weekend Arts in the Ville
DESCRIPTION:Arts in the Ville is an annual festival and art trail held over Labour Weekend that celebrates the many local artists in the area. Come and take advantage of this great opportunity to view\, discuss and purchase art pieces from a huge range of artists across many different venues. These include open studios\, venues and other pop-up spaces which will be marked clearly\, and can be found on the map provided from the website as a download\, or on-site in Helensville during the festival weekend.  From 10 – 4pm each day (Saturday\, Sunday and Monday)\, Helensville will be buzzing with visitors taking advantage of the vibrant display of art. Join in and you’ll experience a variety of media from sculpture\, painting\, pottery\, ceramic\, etchings\, glasswork\, repurposed mixed media and engineered creations\, for both your indoor and outdoor spaces. In many cases you will have the opportunity to meet the artist in their studio\, discuss pieces with them\, and sometimes see them at work. Most pieces will be for sale.  The Visual Treasure Hunt is a highlight of the long weekend\, made and donated by well-respected\, New Zealand sculptor Jeff Thomson\, whose studio is located in the heart of Helensville.  Arts in the Ville should not be missed! We are working hard to make this event a bright light in your calendar. Come for the day\, or the weekend\, and enjoy the art\, local cafes and other local attractions.
