Both Helensville Christmas Parade/Festival and Helensville District Community Christmas Dinner require funding. Obvious options are from Lotteries, Sky City, and Kaipara Tavern pokies (Trillian Trust). These have not been approached to date. Lion Foundation (pub pokies) did provide funding for parade years ago but ceased to operate in our community. I personally am opposed to fostering gambling and prefer not to tap these sources.
I would like community feedback as to what support there is for receiving funding from gambling proceeds. Email helchrisfest@gmail.com with comment please. I personally top up whatever funding is received currently, but that may not be sustainable long term. Lions Club of Helensville are currently the major funders of both events. If there are local organisations, businesses or individuals who would like to contribute to avoid the gambling factor, please email me.
