The Helensville Floral Art Club meets once a month from February to December on the third Thursday at 10.00am at the Masonic Hall in Kowhai St.
This Month on the 16th March our venue was a beach theme and we all met at Shelly Beach.
The day was hosted by two members, Diane Bristow and Jan Backhurst and the theme for the day was A Beach Scavenge which meant that all members were to walk the beach and pick up anything they saw that could be used in a design. Shells, driftwood, plant material, sand, any flotsam and jetsam, stones etc etc.
It was also allowed to bring any embellishments you might like to finish your design. Eg. Beads, coloured wire, or other beachy items you may have stored away at home.
The day went very well, it was lovely and sunny and we set ourselves up at the far end of Shelly Beach, beyond the campground on the substantial table and seat overlooking the Harbour.
The 8 members who arrived set about finding their items they needed and picked their site to assemble their designs. Four local ladies arrived down to view our designs and were invited to Judge them for us. It was a lot of fun and we shared a great lunch afterwards and thoroughly enjoyed the venue we had picked. What a great beach we have right at our doorstep, it couldn’t have been a better day and we will certainly be back there in the future.
