As I write this article, we are all dealing with the aftermath of the attacks on mosques in Christchurch.
At Auckland Libraries we highly value the rich diversity of Aucklanders we have the privilege of serving. We stand together with you.
If you are trying to explain such events to children – or wanting to introduce them to different cultures – we can help you. Just come and ask us.
We want our library to be a safe place for all. If, at any time, you are feeling unsafe in our library – if others are making you uncomfortable – please talk to us.
On a more upbeat note, April means the school holidays. These holidays are Weird, Wild and Wonderful!
Throughout the holiday period (Monday 15 April to Saturday 27 April) we will have a ‘How do you measure up?’ animal facts scavenger hunt, and activities to do in the library or take away.
We also have three events:
Tuesday 16 April, 3pm to 4pm: Weird Science. The return of our ever-popular kitchen science experiments
Thursday 18 April, 3pm to 4pm: Wild Wardrobes. Create some wacky looks in real life, or a fashion show online with apps
Tuesday 23 April, 3pm to 4pm: Wonderful Wildlife. Explore the world of animals and create your own creature.
