Ag Day, on Friday 26th October 2018, was a HUGE success! The food, crafts, music and games were enjoyed by all who attended.
An overwhelming sense of support was felt by the students and staff of Helensville School, with almost 150 people offering to volunteer an hour of their time to help run one of the stalls during the event.
The students eagerly shared their various projects worked on both at home and in classrooms with those who came and visited our school.
Lambs, kids, dogs and caged animals were shown by a number of students and we saw some impressive animal training skills. The cup and trophy winners of the lamb and goal competitions will have the opportunity to participate in the annual South Kaipara Group Dayon Saturday 3rdNovember, at the Helensville A&P Showgrounds.
DJ Too Tall played music and our very own Kapahaka and Pasifika group performances kept the crowd entertained.
There were prizes galore, including some sort after silent auctions. Many businesses and families from our wonderful community made generous donations and the school was very appreciative of the support. For a full list of prizes, prize winners and donations, please see our school website. www.helensville.school.co.nz
Once again, the bake sale was a favourite of many, as were the climbing wall, animal displays, rides, games, food and of course seeing Mrs Heasman and Mrs Godek get splattered witha lemon meringue pie for the ‘Pie in the Face’ activity.
The school grounds were buzzing with enjoyment and excitement. An estimated 2000 people were believed to have attended our annual Ag Day event. The final amount of money raised has not yet been calculated, however, once this is revelled all proceeds will go towards building a new playground specifically designed for the senior school students of Helensville Primary.
Thank you to everyone who supported our school event. We look forward to another successful Ag Day in 2019.
