Kaukapakapa resident Frances Isabel (Isla) Wills (nee Scott) passed away on November 17, 2017, aged 86. Isla was highly valued in the district for her work in the community, including researching and preserving stories from our local history over many years, a leader’s role with Girl Guides, Sunday School teaching, service on the newly formed Playcentre committee, coaching needy local children, leadership of the family history project at Helensville Historical Society, huge involvement in her local church, including acting as Sexton and overseeing restoration of the graves of early settlers, and contributing to the book Pioneering Women of South Kaipara’, published in 2000. In 2009 Isla was the proud recipient of the Kaukapakapa Community Award.
Isla is survived by Keith, her husband of 57 years, children Fiona, Diana, Andrea and Rod and 10 grandchildren. At Isla’s request, a private family service was held.
