The Kaipara Memorial RSA clubrooms are now closed for extensive Council renovations and seismic strengthening work, the clubrooms are not expected to re-open until April- May 2023.
Kaipara Memorial RSA President Rex Keane says the timing is not ideal, but it is work that obviously needs to be done. The Committee will work remotely and continue to assist with Veterans welfare and preparations for the annual Poppy Day appeal on Friday 21st April. ANZAC Day falls on a Tuesday and with the War Memorial Hall Cenotaph unavailable due to the works, the committee is working on alternative arrangements.
The Helensville Bowling Club has offered financial members of the KMRSA a social memberships for a very fair subscription.
The committee will continue with the Wednesday quiz at the Bowling Club in the New Year, giving its members a chance to gettogether for a social gathering to help their wellbeing. Additionally, Mike Toopi the Waimauku RSA President has made an open
invitation to the KMRSA members to utilise their facilities. Most of the KMRSA’s memorabilia is now on display at the Helensville Museum, 98 Mill Road. A big thanks to the Museum volunteers for helping catalogue all the inventory and setting up the displays.
The Oerikon 20 mm Anti-aircraft gun that was on display outside the RSA has also been removed for restoration. For Veterans Welfare and other enquiries, email:
