Kaukapakapa School Update

Our Year 7 and 8 classes got a close up look at the speed camera that catches drivers who are speeding past our school. They saw how the camera is calibrated and enjoyed taking photos of each other.
Two in photo are Year 7s Joseph Kapea and Tomas Matteucci.

After the rain postponed our annual swim sports, we have had a wonderful day poolside. After 6 weeks in the pool for 30 minutes a day our students were ready to compete. Years 5 to 8 in the morning with Years 3 and 4 in the afternoon.
Our trophy winners for Year 8 this year are Peyton Drew and Blake Walker, shown with Deputy Principal Selma Nicholson.

Students from Room 10 Kaukapakapa School have just delivered A Street Library that they painted to its new home The Kaukapakapa Dairy and Anna’s Hair Salon.
A Street Library is a “take a book... leave a book” free book exchange. There is an understanding that people are sharing their favourite books with their community. Street Libraries have been called “mini-town squares”, and are popping up all around the world. We hope our community will enjoy, support and look after our gift.

After a term of studying Elizabethan England and Shakespeare, we headed off to a matinee performance of Othello at the Pop up Globe. We knew the story well and loved this performance.
