About funding of the Christmas events in Helensville, in particular the Community Christmas Day Lunch.
The Christmas Community Lunch originated as a need for families, or for those who found Christmas a stressful time of year, for whatever reason. It provides a relaxed day, a moment to socialise and of course a wonderful Christmas Lunch.
To consider using ‘gambler funds’ runs counter to the philosophy of the lunch. Having coordinated the Christmas Lunch in the past I believe to ‘tap’ into that kind of funding is unnecessary. Helensville and the surrounding District is awash with community minded, giving, and generous citizens. That is where the support is.
