You can tell from the name that the new kid in town has attitude. The Shoppe, inhabiting the premises previously occupied by River Cottage Antiques and Collectables at the railway station, is now home to an invited collective of artists and crafters, most of whom are local. The enterprise is the brainchild of Heather Steadman, who weaves flax products such as flowers, kohakete and back packs, and who has worked as manager and exhibition curator at Helensville Art Centre since January this year. Other items on sale include jewellery, honey, paintings, decoupage, floral art, small upcycled furniture, preserves, ceramics, photography, copper work and crystals. Members of the collective will sell their work as well as taking turns to be on duty in The Shoppe.
“There’s something to suit every budget so we invite the community to pop down for gift ideas or a treat from the selection of handcrafted goods,” says Heather.
An OPENING celebration was held on Sunday 30th June. The Shoppe is open from Wednesday -Sunday, 10am -3pm. EFTPOS is available.
