We had a very interesting talk by Treena Gowthorpe, manager of Helensville Recycling Centre, giving us a rundown on the centre’s history, operations and plans for the future. Also Silas Mansell-Flay gave us a taste of life on his exciting trip on the “Spirit of Adventure”.
We will be hosting a Lions Speech Contest in June and this month we hold our fun evening “changing officers” for our new Lions year.
Dont forget we are still collecting old currencies (boxes around town) and old spectacles.
We had a farewell meeting for Ed Hayhoe who has moved to Papamoa. He has been a Lion for over 20 years as well as being a Trustee on the Lloyd Morgan Charitable Trust. Also Nancy Todd left us to pursue her committments to the Samaritans Christmas Box Appeal. If you would like to fill a shoe box, contact Nancy or Lions. Such a little thing to do, for such a great reward.
