It’s been a positive start to the year for our budget adviser at Citizens Advice Bureau Helensville. Clients have visited our experienced adviser for various financial concerns.
He has provided clarification, contacted relevant financial parties and helped people understand their loans and debts.
Most importantly, he has provided a listening ear to help relieve burdens.
One client needed to return goods under the Consumer Guarantees Act and our budget adviser contacted the retailer, ensuring they were aware of the client’s rights under the act.
The retailer agreed to take the goods back and gave him a full credit to go towards another purchase. This saved the client from having to take the retailer to The Disputes Tribunal.
The Consumer Guarantees Act allows you to seek repairs, replacements or refunds when goods are faulty and sets minimum guarantees for all products and services.
All New Zealand businesses and people in trade have to meet their responsibilities under the act. This means if you have a problem with a product or service, you can do something about it.
