The Clapperton Diaries - 100 years of history.
Meet author John (Jack) Clapperton and editor Crispin Caldicott at the Historic Kaukapakapa Library. Documenting a unique perspective of New Zealand from 1885 until the 1990’s, The Clapperton Diaries initially detail William Nicol Clapperton’s arrival from Scotland, then lead into the adventures of his grandson Jack. Anecdotes from Jack’s life include working and touring in the UK, his time as a surveyor with NZ Lands and Survey and as an engineer for the Auckland Council. Overall, a personal and good-humoured read of how some of the most important infrastructure of our developing country was achieved.
