Highlights from Mark Dennis, Rodney Local Board

Is it Rubbish Day?

Remembering rubbish day is hard work, but here is a link where you can put in your address and it will tell you when Rubbish day and when Recycling day is for your household Click Here

Don’t forget from the 1st of September our new Rates Funded bins will be active, so this will be the last week to use your EconoWaste bin.  If your bin has been picked up this week, then you need to start using the new Council bin. You don’t want to be filling up the wrong bin!

Footpaths for Parakai!

Two footpath programmes are actively underway in Parakai as we speak.

These are running at the same time to help save time and money and minimize disruption.  The first programme will introduce footpaths outside the new Parakai playground and move 2 bus stops to safer locations just up the road and away from the entry to Parakai Springs.  The second is an extension of the Parkhurst Road footpath which currently stops near Springs Road, the extension will bring it right to the last house on Parkhurst Road.

Protecting our Parks

Issues have arisen with vehicles entering the sports field at two of our Rodney parks and causing significant damage to the playing surface.

Points of ingress were identified and bollards, rocks, infill planting and bench seats were installed within the boundary around both parks to prevent further vehicular access. Cost: $40,000
