My name is Geoff Upson and I am asking for your support in the upcoming Rodney Local Board elections. I want to see our community elect nine good, honest people across the five subdivisions who are committed to working for ratepayers, not political agendas.
Over the past term, I have served on the Rodney Local Board in opposition to a political party. In that time, I have witnessed:
- Your rates being wasted on overpriced consultants and excessive council administration costs,
- Projects that will never go ahead draining money from our community, and
- Critical maintenance of council assets being neglected in favour of budget lines that deliver little or no benefit to residents.
I have learned the hard way that one person alone cannot fix council. That is why my brother, Rob Upson, has also stepped forward to stand for election in the Southern Kaipara subdivision. This gives you a clear and simple choice: if you want real change, use your two votes for Geoff and Rob Upson.
If I am re-elected, my goal is to take on the role of Chairperson and dedicate the next three years to ensuring that every deficit in the Rodney Local Board area is properly identified and entered into the Long-Term Plan (LTP). My focus will be on funding essential core services and critical infrastructure first, so our community finally gets the basics it deserves.
Together, Rob and I want to put an end to waste and make sure your rates are spent wisely, for the benefit of Rodney residents.
