There was a new art exhibition running at St Martins Church in Waimauku.
Helensville artist, Pauline Denton, exhibited her huge fabric work called “Passion” which depicts Jesus at the centre, his head and arms in deep fiery reds and his love and warmth radiating out in a spiral of flame like orange, red and gold colours. The piece comprises of hessian stretched over a large frame with fabric poked into it before the back is glued to tighten and secure it. The last four years have seen expressions of creativity and art celebrating the beauty and meaning of Easter. The exhibition is named “Suffering and Hope” and each artist has worked with this theme.
Pauline is part of a growing collective of talented artists telling the story of their journey and faith through these exhibitions.
She graduated from Sheffield Polytechnic with an Honours Degree in Fine Art in 1983 and is currently running an Arts and Activities Programme for ‘differently abled’ adults in Helensville, where she enjoys being able to present people’s work well and showcasing them as mainstream artists.
The exhibition was open 10am - 2pm daily until Saturday 4th April. Pop in and relax in the beautiful space and ponder how “Suffering and Hope” can go together. Especially as we get close to Easter.
