From Lighthouse to Art House

From Lighthouse to Art House as this year The Lighthouse building, part of Magnify Church, will be hosting a Christian Art Festival over Labour Weekend, as part of the 2021 ARTS in the VILLE. Any Christian with work to display is welcome to exhibit. Drop off at the Lighthouse, 118 Commercial Road, is 3-7pm Wednesday 20th October, along with an exhibitor fee of $5 for one piece, $3 each for two or more pieces. Organiser, Pauline Denton, along with Barbara Harry, Michelle Humphris, Marion Taylor and Jodie Allen, have been working for several months to get the event ‘up and running’. Pauline confesses to having first seen the man she would later marry at a previous Art Fest at Magnify, so, for her, it has romantic as well as artistic associations. For more information don’t hesitate to email Pauline paulinekiwidenton@gmail.com

Barbara Harry will be hosting a beautifully reflective space within the main Church building and there will be a creative space for kids in the basement from 11am-3pm Saturday and Monday of Labour Weekend, October 23rd & 25th.
Jodie Allen will be amongst the exhibitors. Jodie has always had a love of art and majored in art and photography while training to be a teacher. Although Jodie has been teaching art to children for 30 years, she has only recently begun to focus more fully on her own passion for art. She is currently exploring the mediums of oil painting and watercolour. Jodie is particularly inspired by nature and highlighting the beauty in God’s world around us through visual language, photography and painted images. She enjoys using natural materials, contrasts of light and movement to enhance her work. Jodie designs and sells customised photo frames also. Her work has been has been on display in exhibitions at the Estuary Art Gallery in Orewa. Commissions are welcome.
Everyone is welcome to the exhibition opening, which will be among the first events of this years ARTS in the VILLE, on Friday October 22nd from 6pm.
