Kaipara korero – Why choose Kaipara College?

Choosing a secondary school is one of the most important decisions a family can make. It’s not just about classrooms and teaching resources - it’s about finding a place where your young person will feel seen, valued, and inspired to grow into the best version of themselves. At Kaipara College, we are proud to be that place.

Kaipara College is grounded in strong values: Whanaungatanga (our people), Aroha (our way), Kaitiakitanga (our place), and Angitutanga (our success). These values shape every aspect of our school culture. We are a place where every student is known by name, supported to thrive, and encouraged to reach their full potential - academically, creatively, socially, and emotionally.

Our Te WAKA eke panuku whanau time programme builds confidence, connection and resilience. Our caring, skilled teachers are warm and demanding - they build strong relationships based on high expectations to bring out the best in each learner.

At Kaipara, academic achievement matters. We have high expectations around behaviour for learning and personal excellence. Our tailored teaching and focus on literacy and numeracy provide strong foundations for future success.

But learning at Kaipara goes far beyond the traditional classroom. Our localised curriculum connects students with the wider Kaipara community, fostering identity and purpose. Students enjoy a wide range of hands-on and engaging opportunities - from outdoor education (including surfing, tramping, and caving), to visual and performing arts, a sports academy, clubs, and leadership programmes.

Our Faculty of Special Education supports students with additional needs and enriches our wider school culture by teaching inclusion and empathy. Our Year 10 Sports Academy grows young athletes, while our award-winning arts programmes support creativity and bold expression. Students are encouraged to join - or start - co-curricular activities that excite them.

Leadership is a key part of life at Kaipara College. Whether it be House Leaders, to our Tu Rangatira Maori leadership programme, or leadership in sports or the arts students are given opportunities to develop pride, confidence and purpose - as individuals and as leaders.

Our Year 9 transition programme is one of the best around. In partnership with local schools, we work closely to ensure students arrive ready and confident. From orientation to peer support and diverse subject tasters, students are set up for success from day one.

And behind all of this is our unwavering belief in every young person’s potential. We focus on developing positive relationships, curiosity, and a love of learning . We challenge our students to aim high - not just academically, but as people. We walk alongside them as they become confident, connected, contributing citizens of their community, Aotearoa, and the world.

We’re proud to be Kaipara - a school with a heart, with high standards, and with an unshakable belief in our young people.  If you’re looking for a place where your young person will be truly known and valued, where they will be challenged, supported, and inspired - then Kaipara College is the right place for your whanau.
