North West Country is sponsoring the new community liaison group North West Community Forum. This group is being formed to provide a single platform for all community groups to hear local information such as large developments, plan changes, political updates, as well as acting as a forum to have a louder voice to advocate on behalf of our community.
The brainchild of Guy Wishart from Kumeu Community Action, the group is being formed and coordinated by North West Country, and we are now calling for community groups who wish to be part of the forum to come forward.
The vision for the North West Community Forum is: A well informed, connected, and empowered Northwest community where residents and local groups collaborate with public officials and service providers to shape the future of our neighbourhoods.
North West Community Forum will meet quarterly and have guest speakers to take us through the major community-affecting changes that are occurring in our neighbourhoods, as well as regular communications to share information.
Membership of the forum is informal, simply email Danielle Hancock on manager@northwestcountry.co.nz and ask for your community group to be added to the mailing list. We will look to have our inaugural meeting in July 2025.
All community groups must submit a single representative to attend the meetings and where space allows, meetings will allow more attendees. Membership in the forum is open to all:
- Residents and ratepayer groups
- Emergency services and civil defence groups
- Local Board representatives and council staff
- Mana whenua and community leaders
- Schools, faith groups, and social services
- Any resident with an interest in the wellbeing and future of the Northwest
- North West Country business association members.
We will meet at various locations across the area to ensure all members have a chance to attend.
As the forum is launched we will have a webpage and social media presence.
