Poetry performance night

The next Poetry Performance Night, on Saturday 14th August, will be a fundraiser for the Helensville St. John Ambulance. This month the venue will be the Old BNZ Bank, 108 Commercial Road. Running 7-9pm and costing $10, this will be an ‘Open Mic’ Night where anyone who wants to can read a poem, monologue or story, original or otherwise. Robert

Jackson read from Vita Sackville-Wests beautifully descriptive book ‘Some Flowers’, which, though written in the 1930’s and illustrated in black and white, contained such poignant descriptions of the colours that they came alive to the listener. Vita was writing for gardening columns in newspapers and magazines, her descriptions of the flowers are stunning in their exact and beautiful delicacy. The tales and adventures of her travels fascinating. Her writing humours and breathtaking. For more information or to book a performance slot email Pauline paulinekiwidenton@gmail.com
