Te Awaroa Residents & Ratepayers Association Incorporated invites a public discussion. Those who have kept the Association ‘alive’ over recent years are getting on in age.
Auckland Council has rendered Ratepayers Associations largely obsolete with everything done online and accessible to everyone individually. Facebook community pages also play a role. The recent storm events have shown that very often it is up to individuals within communities to respond. Auckland Council is not available to be relied on.
Forming an Incorporated Society requires considerable effort. The existing TARRA one could be passed to another group (change name, amend constitution).
Is there an appetite within the Helensville/Parakai community for an organisation representing community and business interests to liaise with/lobby both Auckland Council (Councillor, Local Board) and North West Country (Business Association)? So often our small communities are overlooked, even ignored.
A meeting is to be held on Wednesday 15th March, 7pm, at the Catholic Church Hall in Kowhai Street, Helensville. ALL WELCOME. Come and have your say.
