Kaipara College is in full rehearsal mode for their up and coming school production.
Avenue Q is a puppet-filled comedy, which follows a group of twenty-something’s seeking their purpose in the big city.
The winner of the Tony “Triple Crown” for best musical, best score, best book Avenue Q school edition, is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart.
The laugh out loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent university graduate named Princeton, who moves into a shabby Auckland apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that although the residents seem nice, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighbourhood. Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life.
Filled with gut-busting humour and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, Avenue Q is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favourite for audiences everywhere.
The original Avenue Q has some content elements that have previously made it a difficult choice for high school productions. We have not let that stop us from giving the Kaipara Community the opportunity to experience the important themes of Avenue Q. The school edition is an adaptation that makes it more appropriate for high school audiences and performers and so we have rated this production PG13.
Don’t miss this one of a kind performance, filled with colourful characters and themes. It is bound to make you laugh and ponder how PC we’ve become.
The production will be held on the 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th June starting at 7.00pm in the Kaipara College school hall.
