HIPPY has begun the year with three local young parents working as HIPPY tutors. Tutor Christina Newton has completed the programme with her son Riley and is mentoring the two new tutors Katie McNamara and Martika Panui. Katie is from South Head and is working on the first year of the programme with her son Carter. Martika is from Kaukapakapa and has started the programme with her daughter Ava. Martika’s mum Frazerina Panui was a founding HIPPY South Kaipara tutor – this is the first time a mother and daughter have both been HIPPY tutors in New Zealand!
All three tutors are looking forward to meeting and working with other young parents with preschool children in the community.
