Christmas never seems quite the same without a parade. With crowds lining the streets, lollies being thrown, well they used to be, clowns cavorting, bands marching, kids screaming and grinning from ear to ear and of course the last float carrying Santa.
This year however, with bad weather causing a postponement and several venue changes the Christmas Market made up for it and finally went ahead at the Helensville A&P showgrounds on a beautiful Tuesday evening. The sun came out and a fabulous evening was had by all. With over 40 stall holders there was a great selection of goodies for Christmas gifts plus plenty to eat and drink.
Entertainment with music from local duo “Take 2”, a pop up Zumba class from Zumba with Jen, hair plaiting with Pauline and even Santa made an appearance. The market was a fund raiser for the Helensville museum to help with the ongoing running costs and with all stall fees going to the museum plus sales from the museum stall at the market they were very pleased with the overall results. A big thank you to all the helpers on the day, all those who provided services for free and help with alternative venues and a big thank you to Shona and the Helensville A&P Association for the use of the showgrounds which meant the market could go ahead regardless of the weather.
