At a recent church service Helensville Community Church welcomed a new minister, David Cooper, along with his wife Lucy. (Helensville Community Church is in Mill Rd, behind the Hospice Shop).
David is an experienced pastor, with a friendly and relaxed style. He has previously started and developed two churches, and for the last seven years he has led the Riverhead Family Church. He will now lead the ministry in both churches. He enjoys leading worship with a guitar, and both he and his wife Lucy are strong vocalists.
David and Lucy have several children, all now grown up. Lucy is a kindergarten teacher in South Auckland, and a fluent speaker in Maori.
The arrival of a new pastor at Helensville Community follows the re-establishment of a Sunday children’s programme. It runs at the same time as the church service (now at 1.00 p.m.), and is taught by Mrs Andrea Frame (who also runs Alphabet Art for pre-schoolers on Thursday mornings). The church is eager to welcome additional children and families, and is confident that the arrival of a new pastor will increase the momentum in Helensville Community Church.
