More about the programme:
Howard Lu, the winner of AYO’s 2025 Soloist Competition, will perform the elegant and virtuosic Variations on a Rococo Theme (for cello) by Tchaikovsky.
Fauré’s Masques et Bergamasques is a light, refined work - a perfect contrast to Tchaikovsky’s monumental Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, one of the most beloved orchestral works in the repertoire. From its haunting opening chorale to the sweeping love theme and explosive climaxes, the piece brings Shakespeare’s timeless tale of star-crossed lovers to life in thrilling symphonic colour.
This ambitious programme, conducted by Antun Poljanich, highlights the artistic maturity, technical accomplishment, and emotional range of AYO’s young players. Audiences can expect a performance filled with passion, brilliance, and unforgettable melodies performed with the energy and commitment that define the next generation of orchestral musicians.
