The Hub of ARTS in the VILLE 2026
This Labour Weekend, 24–26 October, Helensville comes alive with creativity as ARTS in the VILLE returns for another early-summer celebration of local art, making and community fun!
The Helensville Art Centre, Library, Hall and Council Meeting Room will come together as the central Hub of the event at 49 Commercial Road — the perfect place to begin your art trail adventure. Open 10am–4pm each day, the Hub will feature a lively mix of artists, makers, food, live demonstrations, kids’ activities and music.
There’s plenty to get involved in this year. The Art Centre will have event brochures and maps, along with entry forms for the Treasure Hunt, Letterbox Competition and Youth Art Competition. Youth Art entries will be exhibited in the Art Centre workshop room. You can also drop off your paper boat at the Art Centre before the event, ready for the Kaipara River Boat Race. And, in the main gallery, have a go at making your own creation with clay!
At the Library, Sharon Dooney will guide visitors in creating Creations with Wool — try your hand at crocheting corals or finger knitting. The Helensville War Memorial Hall will feature sculptural works, with opportunities to have a go at weaving on a loom or trying out a French knitting machine.
This year, a shuttle bus will also connect visitors between the Hub with some of the artists’ locations further afield, making it even easier to discover more of the trail.
Whether you’re an art lover, curious browser, foodie, or simply looking for a fun Labour Weekend outing with friends and whânau, the Hub is the perfect place to start before heading out to explore the wider ARTS in the VILLE Art Trail.
24–26 October | 10am–4pm daily
