Kortne Snedden will be exhibiting her ‘Bird of Welcome’ describing it’s origins, Kortne says “Te Reo Maori is a beautiful language that I feel that I have an affiliation with, as a New Zealand trained teacher I have the upmost respect for Maori values and culture. The bird came about through an expression of what a typical classroom in New Zealand looks like today; we welcome a variation of people, values and culture into our bicultural classrooms of old. Te Reo Maori is apart of our everyday teaching. The bird is a symbol of becoming one and welcoming all of these different individuals into our nest.“
