Community Candlelight night

On Friday September 27,from 4pm onwards, the community is invited to spend time with others remembering those who have passed away. The venue is the courtyard outside the Kaipara RSA.
This is our fifth year running this relaxed family friendly community event and we would like to extend a special welcome to local families who have sadly experienced the death of a loved one this year.
The Community Candlelight night is a time and space to gather where everyone is welcome. People are invited to come and go as they please, light a candle and write on the memory wall acknowledging a lost loved one.
We especially reflect on our young people who may be experiencing the overwhelming challenges of grief for the first time, or even the reality that the effects of grief continue long after the initial realisation and responses.
Coming together in a public space shows our young people and whanau that they are not alone. The simple act of being there, lighting a candle and allowing a space for stories and memories to be shared is Te Awaroa Helensville’s small offering of comfort to those who would like to remember someone together.
Tea light candles and light refreshments are provided, along with information about living with grief and loss.
