All of the 60 families enrolled on the HIPPY programme were acknowledged for their efforts at the annual graduation ceremony held in the Helensville Community Hall on Friday 2nd December.
All of the children enrolled on the programme were presented with certificates and gifts. Those who had completed the whole 60 workbooks over two years wore their graduation robes and received framed certificates, HIPPY T-shirts, books and gifts to acknowledge their wonderful efforts.
The HIPPY (Home Interaction Programme for Parents and Youngsters) programme began in 2005 in South Kaipara with hundreds of local families taking part over the years. Founding coordinator Bernie Malizia is pleased at how successful it has been in our community. “The benefits are huge. Parents and children spend regular quality time together on the fun HIPPY activities which is important to children’s development. This is something parents are finding increasingly harder to do these days. The children love it!”
