Making Music
Enjoy the Music Inspired Exhibition tying in with New Zealand’s Music Therapy Week at the Helensville Art Centre, opening Friday 4th October 6-8pm, all welcome! Exhibition runs until October 28th and is open all Labour Weekend during ‘Arts in the ‘Ville’. There will be a wide selection of media and materials within this exhibition including several works created at a workshop with Jeff Thomson run for Art Kaipara Members on Saturday 14th September at Jeff’s Helensville Studio.
Bronwyn Conlogue created a Drum, Angie Bickerstaff created a piece based on a musical stave. Helene Blomfield created a piece based on a treble clef, Julie Buswell created this piece based around the bass clef, Jeff Thomson & Peter Borthwick worked on Peter’s Gasoline Alley Blues, which Peter hopes will even be playable!
Opportunity to drum at a percussion & drumming Workshop, held over Labour Weekend with Retts Van Dam. Just $5 Saturday 26th October 11am-12. Booking preferred but some drop-in spaces may be available on the day.
Movie Premiere
The culmination of a 3-day film making workshop with international short film-maker Hank Snell at 3.30pm Friday 11th. All are welcome to attend and see what a group of 8-14 year olds have created during the three day workshop where they will have learnt all the skills needed to create a short film. This workshop will run Wednesday-Friday October 9th-11th and cost is just $110.
