DRAWING TOWARDS PAINTING and Beyond!
Wednesdays from 6.30-9pm from June 12th- July 17th. A series of 6 weekly classes with John Perry that take you on a creative journey through art & history.
Week 1: Wednesday June 12th The Geometry of Drawing; a workshop in the exploring of line, tone & area.
Week 2: Wednesday June 19th Discovering Organic Form; looking into the natural world!
Week 3: Wednesday June 26th H2O An Introduction to Watercolour & Acrylic Technique; A painting workshop in technicolour.
Week 4: Wednesday July 3rd The Oil and Water Mix; a mixed media workshop.
Week 5: Wednesday July 10th Silkscreen Printing On a Shoe String; an experiment in multiplicity.
Week 6: Wednesday July 17th Where to Draw The Line; Art/World/Life/Play.
Just bring along your imagination and your art materials.

Matariki Weaving Workshop.
Make your own (shopping basket) or small purse. Participants will learn how to make their own eco friendly bio degradable shopping basket or a small purse made from flax.
Class size: 10 funded spaces at $20 Sunday June 23rd 10am-2pm.
One Day Movie Making Workshop
With short film-maker Hank Snell. Saturday 6th July 9.30-4.30 $60 through Creative Communities subsidy. Students are asked to bring costumes, props and ideas to this fast paced workshop where the theme is discussed and filmed in just one day. The edited premier is 7pm the next day, Sunday 7th July, at the Art Centre.
Ephemeral art workshop
This allows children the opportunity to make choices and create patterns. Ephemeral art is art created from nature, this can be done both inside or out in nature. Photos are then taken and then the piece of art is left to the elements or children to recreate something new.
Children develop a strong connection with nature and see beauty in the natural world around them. Seeing the world through the eyes of an artist. Saturday July 13th 10am-1pm Ages 7-12 $15
Shadow Theatre Workshop – Helensville Art Centre
Saturday July 20th 10am - 4.30pm with performance at 4pm for everybody to attend. $30 ages 7-12. A full day workshop includes introducing children to Taonga Puoro-Ancient Maori Instruments and shadow puppetry.  Learning to use the instruments and puppets. The children will be empowered to put together a performance for Parents, siblings and whanau which will be performed at the end of the day. The story to be performed will be a legend from Aotearoa.
