This term at school will prove to be one of the busiest ones ever for Kaipara College. Not only is Kaipara College holding its second annual Ag Day on Fri 20th September but is also hosting the Kaipara College Centenary Celebration on Saturday 21st September.
Kaipara College’s Ag Day is a true community event that showcases collaboration from current students, staff, and alumni. This annual event brings together various stakeholders to celebrate agriculture, showcase student projects, and foster community engagement. Current students at Kaipara College actively participate in Ag Day by showcasing their agricultural projects, such as rearing animals, growing crops and making treats and crafts. This hands-on experience allows students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and some to develop essential skills in animal husbandry, horticulture, and agricultural science. Not only this, this year Ag Day is ably led by Kaipara College students Olivia Kelly, Theo Bayley, and Ethan Kelly (who is leading the new “indoor section”), with the help of ex-student James Shaw (also known as the Chicken Man) and staff member Karina Mules. These wonderful people are supported by the student and staff Ag Day Committee, the wider staff and student body and the many members of the community who have got involved through sponsorship and support.
The staff at Kaipara College play a crucial role in organizing and supervising Ag Day activities. Teachers provide guidance and support to students throughout the preparation process, ensuring that the event runs smoothly and meets educational objectives. Staff members also contribute their expertise in various agricultural disciplines, enriching the learning experience for students.
Alumni of Kaipara College return to participate in Ag Day as judges and mentors. Their involvement not only adds value to the event but also strengthens the bond between past and present members of the school community.
Alumni bring industry insights, professional experience, and networking opportunities to Ag Day, enhancing the educational experience for current students.
In addition to current students, staff, and alumni, Ag Day at Kaipara College receives significant support from the local community. Local businesses sponsor prizes, donate resources, or offer expertise to make the event a success. Community members attend Ag Day to show their support for the school and engage with student projects, fostering a sense of pride and belonging within the wider community.
Kaipara College’s Ag Day is a true community event that exemplifies collaboration among current students, staff, alumni, and the local community. By bringing together diverse stakeholders around a shared passion for agriculture, this annual event not only celebrates student achievements but also strengthens ties within the school community and beyond. Thank you to all involved. Please come along in support on the day and enjoy all that the Kaipara College Ag Day has to offer. Entry is free on the day.
