Kaipara korero | From the Kaipara College Principal’s Desk:

As we embark on a new year, it is a fitting time to pause and reflect on the journey we shared at Kaipara College throughout 2024. It was a year marked by growth, resilience, and numerous accomplishments. Unlike previous years, we were fortunate to face no major weather events or disruptions, allowing us to focus on what truly matters: the success and development of our students.

Our students showed unwavering dedication to their academic studies, and the results speak for themselves. The Senior and Junior Prizegivings were standout events, celebrating the hard work and success of many students across all year groups. These achievements reflect not only the students’ commitment but also the dedication of our teaching staff, whose support and guidance have been crucial in helping each student reach their potential.

Throughout the year, our students excelled in a variety of academic competitions, both locally and nationally. Whether in science, mathematics, or the arts, Kaipara College students showcased their talents and made us incredibly proud. These accomplishments are a testament to the strong academic culture that continues to thrive at our school.

Beyond academics, extracurricular activities played a vital role in the life of the school. The Year 9 camp was another resounding success, where students forged lasting friendships and developed skills outside the classroom. Our sports teams also excelled in regional competitions, returning with a number of trophies and medals. The dedication of our athletes, who balanced rigorous training with their academic responsibilities and personal lives, is truly commendable. Similarly, our performing arts groups captivated audiences with their productions, highlighting the incredible creativity within our student body.

Community engagement was a strong focus throughout 2024, with Kaipara College students taking part in various service projects to support local organizations and charities. These initiatives not only made a positive impact on those in need but also instilled a sense of responsibility and empathy in our students. The involvement of parents and local community members further strengthened our school’s ties to the wider Helensville community.

One of the highlights of the year was the celebration of Kaipara College’s centenary. The school was buzzing with excitement as over 400 alumni and current students came together to reminisce and share stories of the past and present. The centenary celebrations were a proud reminder of the school’s rich history and the strong sense of community that continues to thrive.

As we look ahead to the coming year, I hope to see the same levels of resilience and adaptability our students demonstrated throughout 2024. Hopefully all of our students have had an opportunity during the holiday season to relax, reflect, and recharge and are now ready to embrace all of the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Happy New Year!
