Kaukapakapa Village Market Celebrates 10 Years

by Sarah Legg
Ten years ago In December 2009 I took over the running of the Kaukapakapa Village Market with Kim – who later had to pull out as she moved out of the area. I had a nostalgic look back at that first market - we had 20 stall holders and it rained!
Lisa Clapperton of Waitoki Plants was one of those stall holders and she is still coming along each month with her locally grown native plants and trees. Our second longest standing stall holder who also attends each month is Kathleen Fabian who joined in 2010 with her antiques and collectibles.
Ten years on and our market family has grown significantly and with the continued support from stall holders and the local community and public who attend each month - regardless of the weather – and the long suffering husband who helps me with the set up on the morning, our market continues to thrive.
So I would like to say a big thank you to all who support the market and including the friends and helpers I call upon when needed, the musicians, entertainers and face painters that add that little extra, the stall holders who regularly turn up each month and all our customers. We have a lot of fun each month and we’re looking forward to another great year.
Have I got another 10 years in me? We shall see…..
