The Council contractors have now given the RSA the 12th April for the clubroom finish date, which is perilously close to ANZAC Day, bearing in mind the amount of work involved in making the clubrooms operational again.
One bit of progress is that the roof is now on, the committee is in discussion with the electricians over lights and power points, the refrigeration engineers about the chiller and display cabinets, the painters about colours for the shiplap, the vinyl, the carpet and the position of the flagpole.
The ground lease for the deck has been approved at the Council Local Board meeting last week, so the deck out the front of the clubrooms can now be built, it will be a great asset for the RSA and the Helensville streetscape next summer.
KMRSA President Rex Keane says the most frequently asked question of late has been, “when is the RSA going to be open”, so the RSA members are certainly looking forward to getting their clubrooms back after a 16 month closure.
