Sunday 19th February, 10am to 1pm. Originally established in 1865, the historic Kaukapakapa Library now plays host to authors, illustrators, story-time and all things literary. First incorporated as a public library in 1879, it contains a collection of books dating from the 1860’s through to the 1990’s when it was retired from public use.
Since reopening two and a half years ago the Library has been the recipient of much historical information including the Jordan Collection of early photographs, as well as the original Library records dating back to the 1870’s.
Although no longer operating as a lending library it remains a fascinating insight into Kaukapakapa’s past, and is open in conjunction with the popular Kaukapakapa Village Market on the third Sunday of each month.
